The Los Angeles Kings acquired forward Scott Laughton from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a trade deal on Friday in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round pick.

Laughton, 31, has now been traded in back-to-back seasons. The veteran was originally dealt to the Leafs in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers last season.

He has eight goals and four assists through 42 games this year and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. LA traded for Laughton shortly after the team dealt forward Corey Perry to the Tampa Bay Lightning (read more here).

The best season of his career came during the 2022-2023 season, when Laughton put up 18 goals and 25 assists (43 points) and hasn't reached at least 40 points in a season since.

Los Angeles (25-22-14) is sitting right outside the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, sitting just three points (64) behind the Seattle Kraken (67).
