NFL Week 10 knee-jerk reactions: Time to take the Patriots and Seahawks seriously

Week 10 of the 2025 NFL season was one of shock and awe as more upsets occurred, a certain player showed he has a clear path to making history, and a pair of teams in the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots proved to be serious Super Bowl contenders!

As a reminder to all, knee-jerk reactions are strictly how I felt following a game/s. These are not meant to be taken as predictions, hot takes, or any variations of the sort.

Now, let's go over our knee-jerk reactions following Week 10!

Patriots, Seahawks primed for Super Bowl run

The New England Patriots have been receiving flak recently that their relatively cupcake schedule is the reason why they're in the position they're in - an 8-2 record as they sit atop the AFC East division after winning seven straight.

However, they've proven they can beat even those among the best teams in the league.

They've taken down the Bills (23-20) in Buffalo, they bested a top-three defence in the Atlanta Falcons (24-23), and now they're coming off a 28-23 win on the road against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that had two weeks to prepare for the matchup, putting up 435 total yards of offence.

The key to a Super Bowl contender is that they take care of business against teams they should win against, which they've also done during this win streak.

They have the Bills again and then the surging Ravens in back-to-back weeks ahead of the Christmas holiday, so they'll be tested one last time before the playoffs. But it's hard to argue that they aren't contenders.

Speaking of contenders, the Seattle Seahawks look better than any other team in football right now, despite the Patriots and Denver Broncos' current seven-game win streaks.

Seattle hasn't dominated these past three weeks - they've buried teams, dug them up, just to bury them again, simply to make a point. If the NFC were to run through Seattle, is there really a team that could stop them if they continue this level of play?

Wouldn't say there aren't those that have a chance, but it's a very slim one at that.

No. 9 in offence and defence. Darnold turned the ball over three times and they still beat the Cardinals by 22 points. Now, they have a +36 point differential over the past two weeks and are just one of two teams with a seasonal point differential over 100 - second behind the Indianapolis Colts

I'd say the one team who are looking like they could dethrone the Seahawks would be their NFC West rivals in the Los Angeles Rams, who are currently being led by a Matthew Stafford who is putting up historic numbers at QB.

The Rams, much like the Seahawks, have won four in a row, have just a five-point difference in point differential  (+98 / +103), have won four games on the road and three at home, boast a top-10 offence and a defence that ranks 11th.

Safe to say, if the NFC Championship were to come down to these two, it would be a treat for NFL fans everywhere.

Jonathan Taylor chasing history

The Indianapolis Colts running back bounced back after his worst game of the year in the biggest way possible - putting up 286 total yards (244 rushing) and three touchdowns, one of them being a game-winner.

If that didn't solidify his spot at No. 1 in the MVP rankings, then he's sharing that spot with Drake Maye and Matthew Stafford because there's no way he's anything less than that at the current moment.

QB Daniel Jones bounced back as well with 308 total yards and one touchdown. But his interception and seven sacks taken proved he wasn't anywhere near his best once again this week.

Taylor is currently on pace to break not one, but two NFL rushing records in the same season - Eric Dickerson's rushing yards record (2,105) and LaDainian Tomlinson's rushing touchdown record (28).

He has now scored three touchdowns in each of the last three games - nine in total - and is on pace to fall just short of 2,000 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.

However, if Taylor were to break both said records, he should become the unanimous MVP no matter what because not a single running back in NFL history has ever broken two major records in the same season.

Capping the greatest season by a running back in history without an MVP would be a disservice to the game of football.

Are the Bills frauds?

It's safe to say the Bills aren't necessarily the best team in the AFC, let alone the NFL this season. Their losses have started to prove this, especially a 30-13 division loss to the brutally awful Miami Dolphins, where they were held scoreless through the first three quarters.

This is the same Dolphins team that ranked in the bottom 10 in both offence and defence heading into the game.

Miami's only two wins prior to their Week 10 matchup against the Bills were the New York Jets and an Atlanta Falcons team without starting QB Michael Penix Jr.

I wouldn't necessarily call the Bills outright frauds just yet.

But not being able to beat teams that they should is a very bad sign for a group who were looked upon as Super Bowl favourites to start the year.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
