It was Pedersen's fourth career Vuelta victory and first of the 80th edition on Sunday’s final stage of the second week.
The win must certainly have been a big relief for the strong Dane who has done his utmost for two weeks to win a stage at the Vuelta a España and things finally came together for him on Sunday, as he took stage 15 in a sprint from a nine-rider break.
"It's extremely nice, especially after a day like this when everyone knew what we wanted. Everyone knew about the plans and everyone expected us to do it", said Pedersen to TV2 Sport after the race.
"We were also left alone to do the work all day, so that makes the victory even sweeter when the boys work like that and I can pay back. We've been close a few times, and now we're succeeding. It's cool."
The charismatic Dane did not seem challenged to beat Orluis Aular (Movistar Team), Marco Frigo (Israel-Premier Tech), Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain-Victorious), Eddie Dunbar (Team Jayco AlUla) to the line in Monforte de Lemos.
Egan Bernan (Ineos Grenadiers) and Louis Vervaeke (Soudal Quick-Step) finished in the same time while Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) finished eight seconds back.
The general classification riders finished in the same group on a day when they allowed the sprinters to claim the main focus. Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) remains 48 seconds clear of João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates), with Tom Pidcock (Q36.5 Pro Cycling) and Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) 2:38 and 3:10 back.
