GK: Joshua Smits - Adelaide United (7.2)

Smits was hailed as the best on ground by both the United media team and the Paramount+ broadcast for saving four out of six shots on target - following four from four a week ago against the Glory - thanks to his efforts keeping Adelaide ahead of the game. One of his two goals conceded was from the penalty spot, which is why he still came out on top with a 7.2 rating out of 10.

LB: Jason Davidson - Melbourne Victory (6.9)

It wasn't a fun week for left-backs, with none of the nine listed recording a rating of seven or better. Perhaps that's one of the consequences of a frenetic round that had 27 goals scored in just five games!

Our algorithm has given the nod to Victory's Jason Davidson despite him being guilty of that terrible turnover that led to Wellington Phoenix's first-half equaliser.

That's in part because the 34-year-old had a fairly solid game when he was on the ball, hitting the target with 16 of 21 attempted passes in the final third, creating a big chance as well as 0.28 xA (expected assists).

CB: Panagiotis Kikianis - Adelaide United (7.1)

Earning a third consecutive rating in the 7s, Kikianis won 60% of his personal duels, completed four clearances and made the most accurate passes (53 out of 61) of any player on the pitch.

CB: Sebastian Esposito - Melbourne Victory (7.6)

RB: Josh Rawlins - Melbourne Victory (7.6)

LM: Bernardo Oliveira - Macarthur FC (8.0)

Oliveira's first goal of the league season earned him his personal best rating as he opened the scoring in Macarthur's thrilling 5-4 victory, making a game-high eight touches in the opposition box.

CM: Louis D'Arrigo - Melbourne Victory (7.8)

Spanish veteran Juan Mata is a little unlucky not to claim the central midfield role after his own dazzling display, but he was edged out 7.8 to 7.7 by defensive mid Louis D'Arrigo.

D'Arrigo bossed the midfield by winning seven out of ten duels, making two clearances, and being useful on the ball with a passing accuracy of 83% throughout the game.

RM: Nishan Velupillay - Melbourne Victory (7.9)

LF: Tom Lawrence - Perth Glory (9.1*)

Lawrence came down under from the English Championship and Scottish Premiership and his top-flight class shone through as he ended a four-game scoreless run in epic fashion, overturning the Glory's terrible recent history against Melbourne City.

His three goals came from just four shots, all four being on target, with an xG count of 1.32.

CF: Nikos Vergos - Melbourne Victory (8.4)

Vergos' second brace in three appearances spearheaded a potentially season-defining performance for the Victory as they returned to the outskirts of the top-six with a 5-1 win.

He displayed his efficiency by turning 0.99 xG into three goals, making at least twice as many touches in the opposition box (ten) as any of his teammates.

RF: Austin Ayoubi - Adelaide United (8.3)

Ayoubi picked up the Flashscore Player of the Match rating in his 27-minute cameo for scoring a crucial 67th minute goal to make it 2-1 with his only shot attempt. He also passed with 90% accuracy, including four out of four in the final third.
