The Super Eagles and the Cranes go head-to-head with contrasting ambitions as Group C of the Africa Cup of Nations reaches its climax.

Nigeria face Uganda in their final Group C fixture looking to maintain their impressive run in North Africa.

Victories over Tanzania and Tunisia have already guaranteed Eric Chelle’s men a place in the Round of 16 as group winners regardless of the outcome elsewhere.

Uganda, by contrast, head into the contest under pressure. The Cranes opened their campaign with a disappointing 3–1 defeat to Tunisia in Rabat and were close to elimination against Tanzania after conceding first, before a late strike from Uche Ikpeazu revived their hopes.

While Nigeria will be aiming to complete a perfect group stage as they continue their pursuit of a fourth African title, anything less than victory for Paul Put’s men would spell an early exit.

Both countries have met just once at the AFCON finals, with Uganda claiming a 2–1 semi-final win over Nigeria at the 1978 tournament.

At the Kumasi Sports Stadium, Abdulla Nasur put the East and Central Africans ahead in the 11th minute before Martins Eyo restored parity for Nigeria in the 54th. Phillip Omondi then struck the decisive goal just four minutes later to seal Uganda’s progression.

Below, Flashscore provides all the essential information ahead of the clash, including broadcast details, potential line up, and more.

Where is the match?

Fez Stadium, Fez

The Stadium is a multi-purpose venue located within the Fez Sports Complex in Fez, Morocco. Primarily used for football matches, the stadium also features athletics facilities. Originally built in 2003, it had an initial capacity of 45,000 spectators.

Fez Stadium will play a significant role in Morocco’s sporting ambitions, having been selected to host matches at both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. Following recent renovations, its current seating capacity stands at approximately 35,468, with plans in place to expand the venue to 55,800 seats by 2028.

These upgrades form part of a wider urban regeneration project in Fez, which includes improved transport networks, expanded hotel infrastructure, and enhanced digital connectivity, further positioning the city as a growing hub for international sporting events.

What has been said ahead of the match?

Uganda head coach Paul Put understands the challenge his team faces against the three-time African champions, but he remains positive in his squad’s ability to rise to the occasion.

"We know we are facing a very good team, who were the finalists in the last AFCON edition. Also, they have performed very well, because they have the maximum of their points,” the Belgian told the media.

"The players are willing to give their best for tomorrow’s (Tuesday) game. It’s going to be hard; it’s going to be difficult, but in football, everything is possible.

"We want to stick with the mentality that everyone is beatable and see what will happen."

Defender Jordan Obita echoes this sentiment, insisting that the Cranes will approach the fixture with complete confidence and no fear.

"The team spirit is very high. We know we need to go into the game for a win," said the Scotland based defender.

"So, we cannot go into the game with any fear. We have to go into the game with full belief, and that’s what we’re going to do."

Meanwhile, Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi says the Super Eagles remain fully focused on their clash with the Cranes, despite having already secured qualification for the knockout stage.

"The atmosphere in the team is really good," the Besiktas midfielder said.

"The confidence from the last game is there, but our focus is now on the next game.

"We are not thinking about the next round yet. The focus is the next game, and that is what the team is doing right now."
