"Mike will also be on the bench on Wednesday. That was actually clear before the game today", said Ricken after the match.
"At first it was just about the Bremen game because I wanted Mike Tullberg to be in charge 100%.” said Ricken.
The 48-year-old avoided the question of whether the Dane could possibly take over the team until the end of the season.
“We are now focusing on Donetsk. We have made clear statements about what the future looks like."
Tullberg explained to Sky that he is thrilled about the decision: "Of course I'm happy. For me it's about helping the club. We need to win games and stabilize the team. Until Wednesday. That’s the only thing I can say about it.”
Dortmund led the game against Werder Bremen 2-0 despite having Nico Schlotterbeck sent off in the first half against Werder Bremen. Werder Bremen, however, equalised in a dramatic second half.
“When you're leading 2-0 and given our situation, you think: If only we had won today. We got into the game really well. Then came the injury (to Felix Nmecha ) and the red card. Bremen then came back into game. But the boys gave it their all", said Ricken after the game.
