19-year-old Daniel Bennie scored his first Championship goal in his 19th such appearance for the club to give them the decisive lead in a 3-1 win away to Hull City.

Bennie struck from long range deep in the second half, just four minutes after being substituted into the match, before teammate Richard Kone put the game to bed in stoppage time for an important win that kept QPR within touching distance of the all-important top-six.

Losses for Hull as well as Ipswich Town (5-3 to Wrexham) and Millwall (3-1 to Portsmouth) saw QPR end the weekend round just four points behind sixth-placed Wrexham, who are making an historic bid for a third consecutive promotion and a maiden Premier League appearance.

The Australian winger came to QPR from Perth Glory, where he made 25 appearances during the 2023/24 season and contributed directly to four goals, scoring at AAMI Park against Melbourne Victory.

Bennie described his first Championship goal as "the best feeling in the world".

"I’m just buzzing, it’s been a long time coming," Bennie added.

It just dropped to me on the edge of the box and I was just like, f--k it, why not hit it? And it just went (into the) top corner.

Bennie was also a member of the Young Socceroos squad that won the Under-20 Asian Cup in early 2025, defeating Saudi Arabia by penalties in the final in Shenzhen, China.
