With the January transfer deadline in sight, Dutch giants Ajax have reportedly made Argentinian youth international Maher Carrizo their top target.

Maher Carrizo, 19, is a right winger for Argentinian outfit Velez Sarsfield and an Under-20 international for Argentina. The youngster debuted for Velez as an 18-year-old in 2024 and has since scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in 52 senior appearances for the Buenos Aires outfit, with whom Carrizo won the league in 2024.

In 18 games for the Argentinian Under-20 team, Carrizo scored 9 goals. Carrizo was good for 3 goals and 1 assist during the recent U20 FIFA World Cup

According to several outfits, both in the Netherlands and Latin America, Ajax have emerged as Carrizo's favourite destination. The young winger was a reported target of Danish side FC Midtjylland, who pulled out of negotiations after deeming Velez Sarsfield's demand of €10 million too high.

Ajax in for millions and sell-on clause

Now, Ajax are leading the race for Carrizo, who should become the successor to Raul Moro in Amsterdam. The Spaniard joined Ajax for €11 million in the summer of 2025, but left the Amsterdam giants in January for LaLiga outfit Osasuna.
