With the January transfer deadline in sight, Dutch giants Ajax are reportedly set to sign Argentinian youth international Maher Carrizo.

Maher Carrizo, 19, is a right winger for Argentinian outfit Velez Sarsfield and an Under-20 international for Argentina. The youngster debuted for Velez as an 18-year-old in 2024 and has since scored 11 goals and provided 3 assists in 52 senior appearances for the Buenos Aires outfit, with whom Carrizo won the league in 2024.

In 18 games for the Argentinian Under-20 team, Carrizo scored 9 goals. Carrizo was good for 3 goals and 1 assist during the recent U20 FIFA World Cup

According to several outlets, both in Europe and Latin America, Ajax have reached an agreement with Velez Sarsfield on the transfer of Carrizo. The winger will reportedly cost Ajax an inital €7 million for 50% of his transfer rights, while the Amsterdam club can buy the remaining 50% for €6 million.

Ajax in for millions and sell-on clause

Now, Ajax are leading the race for Carrizo, who should become the successor to Raul Moro in Amsterdam. The Spaniard joined Ajax for €11 million in the summer of 2025, but left the Amsterdam giants in January for LaLiga outfit Osasuna.

Maher Carrizo is under contract at Velez Sarsfield until December 2027.
