Wout Weghorst, 33, sustained severe damage to ligaments in his right knee during last weekend's Eredivisie away game at Fortuna Sittard (3-1 win). The Netherlands international had to be taken off in the first half and was replaced by Kasper Dolberg, who will be Ajax's starting striker for at least the remainder of 2025.
Weghorst, along with Mika Godts, led the way for Ajax in the Eredivisie with six goals. The tall striker had also scored Ajax's only goal in the UEFA Champions League, a penalty away at Chelsea.
Ajax are 14 points adrift from PSV's top spot in the Dutch Eredivisie, while the Amsterdam giants are bottom of the table in the UEFA Champions League with zero points from five games. Ajax play Qarabaq in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday,
