For the ninth time in 12 games, Feyenoord failed to win a game as FC Twente left Rotterdam with a point following a 1-1 draw.

Feyenoord were looking to win a game for the first time in four games after consecutive losses to FCSB, Ajax and Heerenveen. With pressure on manager Robin van Persie mounting, only a home victory against FC Twente would improve the atmosphere around the club.

Van Persie's team didn't have the bright start it desired as FC Twente largely had their way with Feyenoord. The visitors dominated offensively and took the lead inside the opening 20 minutes via Mats Rots, who beat Timon Wellenreuther with a shot in the far corner.

Sam Lammers had a golden opportunity to double Twente's lead on the brink of half-time, but saw Wellenreuther make an excellent save to prevent him from putting the ball in an empty net.

Twente's rampant first half saw them take 14 attempts at Wellenreuther's goal - a record amount for Feyenoord in an Eredivisie home game since at least the 2010/11 season.

Feyenoord stayed silent in the first twenty minutes following the break, but found a breakthrough in the 74th minute via former Porto winger Goncalo Borges, who beautifully placed the ball in Lars Unnerstall's far corner with the outside of his foot.

Any hope Van Persie had for a win largely went down the drain after Luciano Valente was sent off with his second booking of the afternoon, just one minute after Borges put the hosts alongside Twente.

From there on out, Twente led the way to the final whistle as John van den Brom's side got close to a winner several times via Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Robin Propper, and Daan Rots. None of them found a breakthrough, however, as Twente held Feyenoord to a 1-1 draw.

Feyenoord's dip in form has given PSV a very comfortable 11-point lead at the top of the Eredivisie. With Robin van Persie now under further scrutiny, Feyenoord will look to regroup before the Eredivisie resumes in 2026.
