PSV are almost certain to win the Eredivisie, while Heracles Almelo and Telstar have big fights on their hands to avoid the drop. Those are some of the latest findings from sports analytics bureau Opta Sports.

The reigning champions currently lead the Eredivisie with 62 points from 24 games, followed by Feyenoord with 48 points and NEC and Ajax, tied for third with 43 points.

According to Opta's latest prediction model, PSV have a 99.9% chance of winning their 27th Eredivisie title. Their 14-point lead means the Eindhoven giants could win it as early as April 23rd, when they host PEC Zwolle.

The reigning champions have a somewhat tricky schedule ahead with games against AZ, NEC, Sparta, Ajax, FC Utrecht, and FC Twente left - all teams that currently reside in the top 8. Their form should give them little cause for concern; PSV have won 8 of their last 10 league games.

Behind PSV, Robin van Persie's Feyenoord are the strong favourites to finish in second place and grab the final UEFA Champions League ticket. The Rotterdam outfit has a 75.4% chance of finishing in second and a 17.3% chance of finishing in third. Feyenoord went through a rough patch in December and January by winning just one of their six league games, but have since recovered with three consecutive wins.

NEC and Ajax are in the midst of a heated battle for third place, with NEC currently in the lead on goal difference (+19 over +16). Their draw last weekend widened the gap to Feyenoord to five points, meaning NEC (11.4%) and Ajax (11.7%) are vastly unfavoured to clinch the second spot. Instead, they're in a remarkably close race for the third spot, with NEC having a 35.4% chance and Ajax a 35.5% chance to clinch the spot.

The fourth spot is also up for grabs, with NEC (32%), Ajax (31.6%), and AZ (16.7%) all contenders.

In the fight for the European play-off spots, FC Groningen are the big losers of 2026 after their five consecutive losses. Once in fourth place, the 'Pride of the North' are now in ninth and are more likely to finish tenth (22%) and outside of the play-offs than grabbing the final play-off ticket (19.4%). Overall, however, FC Groningen have a 41.9% chance of finishing among the top 9 teams.

Big relegation fight

At the bottom of the table, Heracles are in big trouble in their relegation fight. The Almelo team are on 17 points after winning just one game after their purple patch in November. Eight losses in their last nine games have given Heracles Almelo a 51.4% chance of finishing at the bottom. Opta have given Heracles just a 19.7% chance to avoid the drop to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.

One point above Heracles, Telstar are in somewhat similarly bad weather. The team from Velsen-Zuid have been given a 68.7% chance of being immediately relegated from the Eredivisie. Finishing in 16th, which has been given an 18.8% chance, would grant them a spot in the relegation play-offs.

NAC Breda, who have a 24.8% chance of finishing in 17th, and FC Volendam are the likely other contenders for the play-off spot. NAC, on 22 points, have a 31.9% chance of finishing in 16th, while FC Volendam have a 17.8% chance of appearing in the playoffs.
