PSV have confirmed that midfielder Joey Veerman will stay with the club until at least the summer of 2026.

Veerman has been the subject of nagging transfer rumours in previous transfer windows, including the upcoming winter transfer window with Turkish giants Fenerbahce reportedly activating a release clause in the midfielder's contract.

The 27-year-old midfielder will stay put, however, the club and Veerman confirmed on Wednesday.

"There have been a lot of rumours circulating in recent weeks, and we would like to clarify the situation," Veerman said in a statement on the club website.

"I wish everyone a wonderful end to 2025, and from the new year onwards, we will be doing everything we can with the entire squad to make it an unforgettable second half of the season. See you soon!"

Peace of mind

Director of Football Earnest Stewart is delighted to keep Joey Veerman around in the club's push for a third-straight Eredivisie title: "Joey is a very important player in Peter Bosz's team in many ways," said the Dutch-American former player.

"He brings quality, experience and leadership, both on and off the pitch. With this decision, we are creating clarity for everyone within the club. It provides peace of mind and allows us to continue building on our objectives with full focus and ambition from next month onwards. Together, we will work hard for a wonderful and successful second half of the season."

The former Heerenveen and FC Volendam midfielder is in the middle of his best scoring season with PSV, recording seven assists and a career-high eight goals in 16 Eredivisie matches

Veerman sigend a contract extension until 2028 in November of last year and has been a reported target of the likes of Brentford.

PSV are currently atop the Eredivisie with an 11-point gap to Feyenoord.
