Andreas Christensen, Jens Stage and Albert Gronbaek return to the Danish national team for the first time in a while as they have been selected in Brian Riemer's squad for the friendlies to be played in June.

FC Barcelona's Andreas Christensen is among national coach Brian Riemer's selections for Denmark's upcoming test matches in June. This is evident from the squad that the Danish Football Association (DBU) shared on social media on Friday.

After a long-term injury, the Danish central defender has recently been in Barcelona's match squad several times, however, without getting playing time. As expected, the list includes regulars such as Christian Eriksen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rasmus Hojlund, and Morten Hjulmand.

Brian Riemer also pulled a rabbit out of his hat in the face of the 25-year-old Heerenveen player Jacob Trenskow. Trenskow, who typically plays on the right wing for Heerenveen, has had a strong season in the Dutch league.

Overall, he has scored 13 goals and had four assists in 34 league matches, as Heerenveen finished in eighth place. The former AGF talent was among the nominees for the award for player of the year in the Eredivisie.

Werder Bremen's Jens Stage is back in the national team after he was left out earlier this year when Denmark faced North Macedonia and the Czech Republic. Also, Albert Gronbaek, who finished off the season on a strong note during his loan spell at HSV, is included.

Christian Norgaard, who plays in midfield like Stage, has chosen to retire from the national team.

Patrick Dorgu is also returning to the national team camp. He struggled with an injury for several months before making a comeback for Manchester United on 3 May.

This is Riemer's first selection to the national team since Denmark disappointed and failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup.

Denmark will meet DR Congo in Belgium on 3 June before Ukraine visits Odense Stadium on 7 June.
