The last second-round fixtures in the Dutch KNVB Beker were played on Thursday, when FC Twente won a nine-goal thriller, and Eredivisie outfit FC Volendam needed 120 minutes to get past third-tier amateurs.

SV Spakenburg - FC Twente: 3-6

FC Twente dealt with third-tier amateurs Spakenburg in a nine-goal frenzy that saw six goals be scored in the final twenty minutes.

Winger Mats Rots scored the only goal of the first half after the 24-year-old skilfully dribbled his way past a defender and confidently slotted the ball home. Thomas van Sondre Orjasaeter and Thomas van den Belt, who assisted Orjasaeter just five minutes earlier, put the game beyond reach for Spakenburg before the hour mark was even reached.

Spakenburg star Floris van der Linden made Sportpark De Westmaat erupt in the 69th minute with his side's first goal of the evening, only for Twente to reply emphatically with goals for Kristian Hlynsson, Daouda Weidmann and Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

A bizarre final few minutes saw Spakenburg get on the board two more times via Des Kunst and Hero van Lopik, after which both Twente and Spakenburg came close to scoring yet again. Instead of 7-4, Twente won 6-3, however.

FC Volendam - SC Genemuiden: 2-0 (AET)

Eredivisie outfit FC Volendam needed extra time to get past amateurs SC Genemuiden at home, beating the fourth-tier outfit 2-0 thanks to two late goals.

A bravely defending Genemuiden survived 23 attempts in the opening 90 minutes from Volendam, who eliminated last year's cup darlings Quick Boys in the first round. The energy drained from their legs in extra time, however, as Aurelio Oehlers and Henk Veerman ended the amateurs' dreams by scoring in the 108th and 114th minutes.

HSC '21 - RKC Waalwijk: 0-9

In the biggest win of the night, second-tier side RKC Waalwijk booked their third-round ticket after a 9-0 win away at fourth-tier amateurs HSC '21.

HSC '21 headed into the break down six after Jordi Altena scored once, Chris Lokesa bagged a brace, and Tim van der Leij scored a hat-trick, all before half-time.

RKC let some of their efficiency go in the second half, which still saw the former Eredivisie side score three goals. Altena, Nazjir Heid and Richard van der Venne put the final score on the scoreboard, which showed 9-0 after 90 cold minutes.

Sportlust '46 - De Treffers: 0-1

De Treffers ruled supreme in the only all-amateur meeting of the second round, beating Sportlust '46 by a single goal in Woerden.

Midfielder Willem den Dekker got De Treffers up one early in a first half that the hosts dominated. Sportlust were nowhere to be seen after the break, as De Treffers ended the game with ten men following a straight red card for Nordin Zoufri.

Willem II - Sparta Rotterdam: 1-5

Former Eredivisie outfit Willem II were knocked out of the cup after Sparta Rotterdam booked their biggest victory of the season, winning 5-1 in Tilburg.

A somewhat uninspiring first half saw Sparta take control of the game early, leaving nothing up to fate after a Shunsuke Mito brace.

Sparta went up a gear after Willem II responded early in the second half via Raffael Behounek, who got Willem II back in the contest after just three minutes. Shunsuke Mito punished the Tilburg outfit again, however, assisting Nokkvi Thorisson's 3-1 in the 57th minute.

After Mounir El Allouchi painfully missed a penalty in front of the home crowd, Lance Duijvestijn and Tobias Lauritsen ended a painful night for Willem II, who were knocked out emphatically after a 5-1 home defeat.
