As the league's best side prepare to host one of the worst sides in Premier League history, you might be desperately trying to maximise your Liverpool assets. But who are the Liverpool must-haves, and who else should you consider ahead of Gameweek 28?

Defender: Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Southampton (H) - 5.5 points

Liverpool remain the defence to target with a leading 12 clean sheets for the season, including in consecutive games following the 2-0 victories against both Manchester City and Newcastle United. They have conceded just nine goals in their last 10.

This time out they face bottom of the league Southampton, who have just three goals from the last four gameweeks, failing to score on two occasions. Right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is the highest scoring defender in the game, with eight goal involvements for the campaign.

He leads the way among defenders for his creativity, sitting top for both key passes (49) and big chances created (14). Early substitutions have benefited him on occasion this season, with 13 clean sheets, including against Wolves in Gameweek 25.

Midfielder: Mohamed Salah vs Southampton (H) - 9.8 points

Mohamed Salah regains his rightful place at the top of the overall AI rankings, as he is just 13 points away from beating his own record for the best ever FPL season (303 points in 2017/18). Bear in mind that Liverpool still have 10 league games remaining in this campaign.

It’s top against bottom as Southampton visit Anfield. The reverse of this fixture resulted in a 3-2 victory for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah producing a brace for 13 points, one of 16 double digit hauls in this campaign. He’s averaging well over 10 points per game.

He’s perhaps one of the most obvious captain candidates of the season this weekend, with AI rarely predicting players around the 10-point mark in a single gameweek. He’s blanked at home just once in this campaign.

Forward: Alexander Isak vs West Ham (A) – 6.8 points

Alexander Isak once again edges out Erling Haaland to be the best predicted forward pick for AI going into the weekend. He’s not currently flagged in the game, but there are still some fitness concerns surrounding him: he made the Magpies FA Cup side last weekend but had to be substituted early.

Isak has been pivotal to Newcastle United’s season, scoring 19 goals, one short of the 20 that Erling Haaland has amassed in this campaign. He’s scored four goals in his last four starts and should better his best ever tally of 21 goals and four assists that he managed last season.

West Ham inflicted a shock 2-0 defeat at St. James’ Park in the reverse of this fixture, but their form has been patchy in 2025, with just three wins. Minutes will be key to Isak’s success this week, with some managers looking to sell ahead of a blank in Gameweek 29.

Hidden Gem: Christopher Nkunku vs Leicester City (H) - 5.9 points

Chelsea arrive at Gameweek 28 with an attractive home game against relegation candidates Leicester City, having been the 2-1 victors in the reverse of this fixture. They’ve scored 11 goals in their last four home games, most recently beating Southampton 4-0.

In that game we saw Christopher Nkunku leading the line for Chelsea, with teammate Nicolas Jackson out injured. He prospered in that performance, with a goal and an assist for 12 fantasy points. He was undoubtedly the star man in that game.

Prospective owners should justifiably hope for a similar performance in this game, with Chelsea unbeaten at home in 2025. Leicester City are without a clean sheet on the road this season, and have conceded 12 goals in their last four.
