Manchester City are hopeful that Rodri will commit his future to the club by signing a new contract.

According to Flashscore sources, there has been renewed focus on tying the Spanish midfielder down to fresh terms, with progress being made in negotiations.

Rodri’s current deal at the Etihad Stadium runs until the summer of 2027, and the club have been hopeful he will put pen to paper on an extension before the end of the season.

City stumbled on Tuesday night, as a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest allowed Arsenal to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

However, Rodri was on the scoresheet and continues to be viewed internally as the club’s most valuable player behind Erling Haaland.

City are also hoping to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer in what would likely be an expensive deal.

However, insiders insist that move would not signal any intention to part ways with Rodri.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old Spain international, but at this stage those rumours have not progressed.

Instead, we understand discussions remain open over what the terms of a contract extension at City could look like.

Current indications suggest there is a genuine possibility Rodri will commit his future to the club by agreeing to new terms.
