Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has addressed the media ahead of this weekend's clash with Everton.

Arsenal host Everton in Saturday evening's Premier League showdown at the Emirates Stadium as they head into the game on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen

The Gunners have built up a seven-point lead over second-place Manchester City and will aim to continue their fine form with another three points as they track down their first title in 23 years.

Arteta praises Newcastle after Barcelona result

Arteta first spoke on facing his old friend and mentor David Moyes, as well as the failures in Europe from Premier League sides over the past week in both the Champions League and Europa League.

“A big part of his staff have huge memories, he changed my career after my decision to go back to Spain. He brought me to Everton and a lot of incredible things we shared together.

“I realise what is happening in the Premier League what is happening the other day. Barcelona is one of the exciting teams to watch. They face Newcastle, intense, so good in transition and we see a game that Barcelona never play. Huge credit to Newcastle.”

Rules are rules

Arsenal’s controversial tactics have come under scrutiny in recent weeks by a number of managers as well as supporters.

Specifically, Arteta’s corner antics are said to be ruining the game, but the Spaniard says if there is a problem maybe teams can’t cut it in the Premier League.

“That's why there are the rules. Don't want to see long throws? Make it so you can't take longer.

“The biggest issue is the man-to-man. If you say you cannot man-to-man, you will have a different league.”

Chances are you’re about to lose.
