The Premier League returned with midweek action after the final international break of the season, with several players standing out for their respective teams. That being said, which stars make our Team of the Week?

Liverpool continued their push for a second title of the Premier League era with a narrow 1-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton on Wednesday, while Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea also picked up wins.

The league's bottom side, Southampton, looked destined for relegation in the next couple of weeks after they fell to a late 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace, while Ipswich earned a much-needed 2-1 win away at Bournemouth.

Using our dedicated player ratings system, Flashscore have picked out the latest Premier League Team of the Week.

GK - Matz Sels, 7.7 (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has been one of the Premier League's surprise packages this season, having kept a league-high 13 clean sheets.

The Belgian continued his fine form with a top showing in Forest's 1-0 win against Manchester United by making six saves - helping his side further establish themselves as serious top-four contenders.

DEF - Dara O'Shea, 7.9 (Ipswich)

Ipswich have struggled throughout the campaign and look to be heading back to the Championship, but proved they won't go down without a fight following a battling 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Dara O'Shea was one of the Tractor Boys' top performers during the victory and made a staggering 14 clearances, five blocks, one tackle and one interception.

DEF - Virgil van Dijk, 8.0 (Liverpool)

Virgil van Dijk has established himself as one of the Premier League's greatest defenders over the last few years and continues to prove his worth to a Liverpool side chasing another major trophy.

The Dutchman was one form once again during the Reds' 1-0 Merseyside derby triumph against Everton and made eight clearances on top of four interceptions in what proved to be an assured defensive display.

DEF - Pau Torres, 7.9 (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa picked up a resounding 3-0 win away at Brighton during the week and defender Pau Torres was one of their top performers.

Torres put in a solid performance at the back and heavily contributed to Villa keeping a fifth clean sheet in their last six games in all competitions.

His impressive eight clearances, three interceptions, two tackles and one block earned Torres a spot in our Team of the Week.

MID - Savinho, 8.0 (Manchester City)

Savinho has endured a tricky start to life in England with Manchester City but proved he has plenty to offer in their 2-0 win against Leicester.

The winger was at his creative best throughout the encounter and made five key passes while also picking up an assist for his efforts - causing all sorts of problems for the opposition defence.

MID - Marco Asensio, 8.4 (Aston Villa)

Our Player of the Week is Villa's Marco Asensio, who has been on fire since joining the club on loan in January and earned an 8.4 Flashscore rating for his cameo in the Villains' win over Brighton - the highest pf any player across the latest round of fixtures.

Asensio grabbed a goal and an assist in just 25 minutes on the pitch to help guide his side to a valuable win.

The midfielder now has nine goal contributions in all competitions for Villa and is enjoying a career resurgence following his move to England.

MID - Ryan Yates, 8.0 (Nottingham Forest)

Nottingham Forest academy graduate Ryan Yates was one of the key contributors during their win over Manchester United.

The 27-year-old picked up the assist for the only goal of the game and also put in an excellent defensive performance - with five clearances, three blocks, two interceptions and two tackles helping his side secure another huge win.

MID - Luis Diaz, 8.3 (Liverpool)

Luis Diaz enjoyed a productive evening when Liverpool defeated Everton, grabbing an assist alongside six key passes.

The winger has endured an inconsistent campaign thus far but looked at his best as the Reds got the better of their rivals, setting up the only goal of the game with a delightful flick despite a controversial offside call going in his favour.

FWD - Anthony Elanga, 8.1 (Nottingham Forest)

Anthony Elanga returned to haunt his former club by netting the sole goal in Forest's 1-0 win against Manchester United.

The winger showed his incredible speed by running almost the entire length of the pitch, spearheading a Forest counterattack before firing a brilliant effort into the bottom corner - showing United exactly what they are missing out on.

FWD - Liam Delap, 7.9 (Ipswich)

Ipswich picked up a hard-fought win against Bournemouth during the week, with Liam Delap once again getting on the score-sheet.

Delap has been the standout in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Tractor Boys and added his 11th goal of the season with a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, capping off a superbly worked team move.

FWD - Alexander Isak, 8.0 (Newcastle)

Newcastle continued their strong momentum with a 2-1 win against Brentford and there was no surprise seeing Alexander Isak amongst the goals once more.

The Swede grabbed his 20th league goal of the season during the victory, tapping home from close range.

Isak has now hit 20 Premier League goals in two consecutive seasons - becoming the first Newcastle player to do so (shockingly, a feat Alan Shearer never managed).
