Tottenham have explored the possibility of a late move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, sources have told Flashscore.

The France international has been the subject of strong interest from Nottingham Forest, who have been working to conclude a deal worth around £35 million. However, Forest have remained cautious of a potential late intervention from a more traditional top club.

AC Milan and Juventus have both monitored Mateta’s situation in recent weeks but have so far found the financial parameters of a deal difficult to resolve. Tottenham, by contrast, would not face the same constraints and have now conducted background checks to assess whether a deal could still be possible before the transfer deadline.

Palace have yet to have formal contact with Tottenham, as of Tuesday evening, but an approach is believed to have been considered.

Spurs have reviewed their attacking options throughout the window and remain open to altering their forward line. While their primary focus has been on adding a wide attacker, the club have left the door open to strengthening centrally if the right opportunity arises.

Juventus’ interest in signing Spurs forward Randal Kolo Muani adds another layer of intrigue.

Elsewhere, Tottenham have also considered Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche and continue to explore the goalkeeping market, with WolvesSam Johnstone among the names under discussion.
