West Ham linked with Real Madrid's Endrick: This loan move could suit all parties

Although we are only seven games into the 2025/26 Premier League season, it's already clear where West Ham's problems lie.

16 goals conceded is the most in the English top-flight so far, whilst a paltry six goals scored is the joint second worst output.

West Ham have to explore striking options now

Nuno Espirito Santo is tasked with steadying the ship, and it's only his old side, Nottingham Forest, and bottom-of-the-pile Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have scored less than the Hammers this season (five).

Although the January transfer window is almost three months away, it would be remiss of the East Londoners not to explore their options now, laying the groundwork for potential season-changing signings at the turn of the year.

One player that the Irons are apparently showing serious interest in again is Real Madrid wonder kid, Endrick.

At 19 years of age, the Brazilian youngster needs to be playing games, but since Xabi Alonso's arrival at Los Blancos, the striker hasn't seen a single minute of action.

"He's coming off a long injury. He's been training well for three weeks, but for him to play, I have to analyse the context of the matches," was the Spaniard's explanation of why Endrick has been kept as an unused sub so far this season.

Endrick has to play in this World Cup year

Being a World Cup year, it's understandable why the player himself could see a temporary future away from the Santiago Bernabeu, particularly if the status quo under Alonso remains.

Before he picked up his hamstring injury back in May, which caused him to miss the Club World Cup during the summer, Endrick was being handed occasional chances by Carlo Ancelotti - now the Brazilian national team manager, of course.

Though the history books will show that he played 37 games during the 2024/25 campaign, he only started in eight of those matches, and played for a grand total of just 847 minutes - equivalent to just over nine total games.

That being the case, his seven goals scored across competitions make for very good reading indeed.

Almost a goal a game is a sensational return, and one can only wonder as to why Ancelotti didn't give Endrick more of a chance on that basis.

Even if it's accepted that Kylian Mbappe was then and is now a shoo-in for the lead striking position, the talented teen can point to his goals-to-games ratio as a good enough reason for some more opportunities at the very least.

Vini Jr. is the go-to partner for Kylian Mbappe

With countryman Vinicius Junior most often selected to partner the French World Cup winner in Real's front line, even when his own numbers aren't up to scratch, it must leave a sour taste in the mouths of players like Endrick and Rodrygo to be so regularly overlooked.

To that end, West Ham's genuine interest has to be given careful and serious consideration.

In all competitions so far this season, they have mustered just eight goals, though only four players have got their names on the scoresheet: Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta, Callum Wilson and Tomas Soucek.

Bowen's goal scoring has consistently kept Hammers' heads above water, but Wilson aside, none could really be classed as a natural centre-forward - and Wilson's best days are certainly behind him now.

Endrick might be a more diminutive front man than a traditional English 'number nine', but his knack of creating scoring chances wherever he's played would suggest he could be just what West Ham are looking for to help keep them up this season.

Ancelotti and Nuno hold keys to Endrick's future

It can't be lost on anyone, least of all Ancelotti, that here is a player champing at the bit to prove that he has what it takes to make it on the biggest stages.

Indeed, Real Madrid signed him for a reason, and if they can't find a place for him at this juncture, then it's surely in their best interests to loan him for six months so that he can have an extended run elsewhere.

With the Premier League being regarded as generally more physical than LaLiga, such a stint could also help to toughen the kid up, too. A kid who is still a little raw around the edges but who certainly does know where the goal is.

In Nuno, he would also have a Portuguese-speaking manager to help him settle into his new home, as well as a former Palmeiras teammate in Luis Guilherme, and another just across London in Chelsea's Estevao.

That can't be underplayed because when a player feels comfortable and at home, arguably, you see his best work.

Should Endrick therefore decide to switch from the Spanish to the English capital, there's every reason to believe such a loan move would be a successful one.

With Valencia and Real Sociedad also throwing their hats into the ring, however, there's a long way to go before the player pulls on the claret and blue shirt.
