Kasper Schmeichel could be out for up to six weeks, says Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers to Celtic TV, according to celticway.com.

"We have received news and we have to look over the next five to six weeks. That is what has been mentioned."

"We are looking at it day by day, but the timeframe that has been given is around that period. Kasper himself does not think it will last that long, but in the near future he is certainly not available", says Brendan Rodgers.

But the Danish No1 choice goalkeeper has told Rodgers he’s confident he’ll return in time for a possible Scottish Cup final date on 24 May.

In his absence, backup keeper Viljami Sinisalo made an impressive league debut against Hearts, keeping a clean sheet in the comfortable home victory.

Schmeichel was in deep pain when he landed awkwardly during Denmark's Nations League clash in Lisbon earlier in the month.

The next day on 24 April, the Danish national team doctor Morten Boesen reported that the first X-ray examinations did not show anything worrying.

"Kasper Schmeichel's left shoulder was X-rayed last night, and fortunately the images didn't not show anything abnormal."

"He is obviously in pain after a fall on his shoulder, so we are examining him further with an MRI scan", Boesen said at the time.

Celtic have two games left in the regular season and then five playoff games in the Scottish league before the Cup final.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
