After only five minutes of the match, Paulinho fell to the ground after a hard tackle. TV images revealed that the Brazilian was in severe pain while he was clutching his left arm, and players urged the referee to call for help.
It was clear that FC Midtjylland were quite concerned as Victor Bak signaled that Paulinho's pain was linked to his elbow. After a few minutes of treatment, FC Midtjylland were forced to make a substitution as Paulinho was transported to a hospital.
"It looked terrible, if I'm honest. The elbow didn't seem to be doing very well. And it wasn't nice to see at all. So I just hope that he feels better now and that it is not particularly bad, so that he can come back to us as soon as possible", said Aral Simsir to TV 2 Sport.
