Sweden have it all to do in Tuesday's second leg of the Third-place Playoff in the UEFA Women's Nations League (UWNL), after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to France last night in Reims.

It's the latest in a worrying run of bad results for Sweden, who were brushed aside 5-0 on aggregate by Spain in last month's UWNL Semi-finals, following their Quarter-final exit at this summer's UEFA Women's EURO.

France turned up the pressure late in the first half, resulting in Anna Sandberg catching Kadidiatou Diani inside the area. Following a VAR review, the home side were awarded a penalty, which Sakina Karchaoui stroked into the bottom corner to give France the lead three minutes into added time.

A bad time to concede, but Sweden responded well in the second half and drew themselves level in the 67th minute, when a good move on the left side resulted in Hanna Lundqvist's cross picking out Stina Blackstenius, who headed home the equaliser.

However, that would turn out to be Blagult's only shot on target in the second half, and that lack of cutting edge came back to bite late on, as a Karchaoui corner was flicked in at the near post by Griedge Mbock, to give France a 2-1 win in the 96th minute.

Sweden must now get a win in Solna on Tuesday to have any hope of finishing third in the UWNL.
