35-year-old Malmo-keeper Robin Olsen says that he is quitting the Swedish national team after disagreements with coach Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Swedish national team goalkeeper Robin Olsen announced that he is quitting the Swedish national team.

And now the former FC Copenhagen, Aston Villa, and AS Roma goalkeeper announces the startling reason.

Olsen has decided to bring down the curtain on his international career because of the Danish coach, Jon Dahl Tomasson:

"I will not play for the national team as long as Jon Dahl Tomasson is the national team coach," says Robin Olsen in an interview with Aftonbladet.

Robin Olsen announced his shock exit after ten years on the national team earlier Tuesday, even though he was otherwise the blue-yellow's first choice for the keeper position.

Aftonbladet asks Olsen why he is making the surprising decision now, and Olsen puts all the cards on the table.

He says that Jon Dahl Tomasson told him a month ago during a meeting between the two that Olsen was his first choice between the posts for Sweden.

Subsequently, Olsen performed so badly during matches against Slovenia and Kosovo that it allegedly had consequences for the agreement they had otherwise entered into.

"Then I got a call from him yesterday, where he said he wanted to replace me, and then I felt that he was a manager I didn't want to work under," says Robin Olsen during the interview.

Sweden will play their next World Cup qualifying match against Switzerland on Friday, 10 October in Stockholm.
