While the North London derby has already been played in the Premier League this season, there is still one to come in the Women’s Super League.

While the North London derby has already been played in the Premier League this season, there is still one to come in the Women’s Super League.

It will take place this Saturday, March 28, at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, which has become a regular home for the women’s team since last season.

Historically, Tottenham have beaten Arsenal just once, while the Gunners will be aiming for their tenth victory over their biggest rivals in front of a home crowd. The previous meeting this season ended in a goalless draw.

Attendance will also be in focus. A month ahead of the match, Arsenal announced that more than 40,000 tickets had already been sold. Last season’s North London derby at the Emirates drew a crowd of 56,784 - a record for the 24/25 season.

Arsenal head into the game as favourites, boosted by their recent form. They thrashed West Ham 5–0 last week and followed it up with a win over Chelsea in the Champions League quarter-finals, where they are defending their title. They have also taken points off Manchester City, one of this season’s leading title contenders.

Tottenham, meanwhile, finished just above the relegation zone last season, but a summer overhaul - including a new head coach and investment in young talent, particularly from Scandinavia - has paid off. They currently sit fifth in the table. Arsenal are fourth, but with two games in hand.

So, which players should you keep an eye on?

Signe Gaupset (Tottenham Hotspur)

Spurs turned to Scandinavia during the winter window, bringing in several signings from Norway and Sweden - and this young Norwegian attacker is one of the most exciting among them, alongside Cathinka Tandberg. At just 20 years old, she was named the best player in Norway’s Toppserien last season, scoring 15 goals to help Brann win the title.

She had already caught attention earlier, scoring against favourites Lyon to help Brann reach the Champions League knockout stage. A move to one of the top leagues in women’s football always felt inevitable. Gaupset joined Tottenham in January and has already found the net twice in the league.

Olivia Smith (Arsenal)

The young Canadian forward made headlines during the summer transfer window when Arsenal signed her from Liverpool for a then-record £1 million fee in women’s football.

She wasted no time proving her worth. In her very first appearance in red and white, she scored an equaliser against London City Lionesses, becoming Arsenal’s first goalscorer of the season. It was also her strike that ended Manchester City’s months-long unbeaten run at the top of the table - and brought Arsenal right back into the title race.

Maika Hamano (Tottenham Hotspur)

Young Japanese international Maika Hamano embodies North London rivalry in more ways than one - she is currently on loan at Spurs from Chelsea. The London club sent her north to rediscover her scoring touch, and it seems to be paying off.

Just days ago, Hamano scored the winning goal in the Asian Cup final to secure the title for Japan - a tournament that also served as qualification for the 2027 World Cup. She finished with three goals and will be looking to carry that momentum into the derby.

Chloe Kelly (Arsenal)

You don’t have to be a women’s football expert to know Chloe Kelly. The England forward has twice played a decisive role in her country’s European Championship triumphs - scoring the extra-time winner in 2022 and, in 2025, assisting the equaliser before converting the winning penalty in the final against Spain.

Despite injury setbacks earlier in the season, she is now back in form. She scored a hat-trick against West Ham last week and followed it up with a goal against Chelsea in the Champions League. A fan favourite and a constant attacking threat, Kelly is a player the Gunners can always rely on.

Olivia Holdt (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Danish international signed a contract extension with Spurs just ahead of the derby - a move that will delight fans. With six goals this season, she is Tottenham’s top scorer. She made an instant impact on arrival, finding the net on her debut, and remains a key attacking threat. Definitely a player Arsenal’s defence will need to keep a close eye on.

Lotte Wubben-Moy (Arsenal)

With star centre-back Leah Williamson set to miss the match due to a hamstring injury, Arsenal can still rely on Lotte Wubben-Moy to anchor their defence. Like Williamson, she has been an Arsenal fan since childhood - her aunt even used to sing the club’s anthem North London Forever as a lullaby.

A one-club player, Wubben-Moy has grown into a key leader within the squad - a dependable presence at the back trusted by teammates and fans alike.
