Another weekend of football has come and gone, which means it's time to dive into Flashscore's Team of the Week. Lionel Messi and Michal Olise stole the headlines, but who else joins them in our XI? Well, among those players were three Uruguayans!

As usual, we've chosen our team based on Flashscore's in-house player rating system, which draws on key stats such as goals, assists, pass completion and tackles. Check out our latest Team of the Week below.

Goalkeeper

Alphonse Areola (West Ham) 9.1

The standout performer between the sticks over the weekend was West Ham keeper Alphonse Areola. The Frenchman put in a sublime display despite the East Londoners giving up a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 at Bournemouth.

Areola did his bit, though, making 10 saves and keeping out an xGOT score of 4.49. The Cherries bombarded the Hammers in the second half, especially, notching 3.49 xG just in the latter 45 minutes. Considering those staggering numbers, Areola's 9.1 rating was well deserved.

Defenders

Neco Williams (Nottingham Forest) 8.9

Perhaps the most eye-catching result in the Premier League over the weekend was Nottingham Forest's 3-0 win away over reigning champions Liverpool. Naturally a right back, Welsh international and former Liverpool player Neco Williams haunted the Reds down Forest's left.

Williams notched the assist for Nicolo Savona's goal, but that's not all. It was his dogged defensive display that was most crucial. Williams won 14 of his 19 ground duels, engaged in a game-leading 11 tackles (winning six), and made three interceptions (also game-leading).

Murillo (Nottingham Forest) 9.1

The second Forest defender in our back three, Brazilian bruiser Murillo, was also a colossus for Sean Dyche's side at Anfield, notching the highest rating of any defender in the world's top leagues all weekend.

Not only did he score the opener, but Murillo also led the match in clearances (13), created one big chance and had the third-most touches for his side in the epic win (44).

Mathias Laborda (Vancouver Whitecaps) 8.8

MLS is heading towards its dramatic conclusion, and the weekend saw three of the four Conference semi-finals take place. In the first of those, Vancouver Whitecaps edged out Los Angeles FC on penalties to progress in the west.

The Canadian club's hero was Uruguayan defender Mathias Laborda, who not only scored their second goal in the 2-2 draw, but then stepped up to slot the decisive penalty in the shootout and secure victory! In the Western Conference final, Vancouver will take on San Diego FC.

Midfielders

Michael Olise (Bayern Munich) 10

The second former Palace player in our midfield this week is Bayern Munich's Michael Olise. Since moving to the Bundesliga in 2024, the France international has earned a reputation for being one of the world's elite creators, and he only enhanced that on Saturday.

Bayern were trailing 2-0 at home to Freiburg before an Olise assist and goal brought them back on level terms by the break. In the second half, the irrepressible Olise added another goal and two more assists as his side ran out 6-2 victors. Remarkably, in his previous outing - France's 4-0 win over Ukraine - he also put up a perfect 10 performance.

Eberechi Eze (Arsenal) 9.9

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Eberechi Eze etched his name into Arsenal folklore on Sunday by scoring the first hat-trick in a North London derby in 47 years, as the hosts claimed the local bragging rights with a thumping 4-1 win.

The England international had only managed one league goal for the Gunners since his summer move from Crystal Palace, so to add three against their bitter rivals was some way to announce himself. Add to that the fact that Spurs had tried to sign him, and you've got yourself a legendary performance, and just shy of a perfect 10.

Giorgian de Arrascaeta (Flamengo) 9.7

Moving over to Brazil's Serie A, where league leaders Flamengo brushed Bragantino aside 3-0 on Saturday to open up a four-point gap over Palmeiras with only three rounds to go.

The star for the Rio de Janeiro side was their Uruguayan talisman Giorgian de Arrascaeta, who scored and assisted in their win, as well as leading the match in shots (five), touches in the opposition box (seven), and successful dribbles (two).

Marco Asensio (Fenerbahce) 9.3

Former Real Madrid and PSG player Marco Asensio moved to Istanbul giants Fenerbahce in the summer, and he put in his best shift yet in Turkey on Sunday as Fener thrashed Rizespor 5-2 to keep pace with league leaders Galatasaray.

Down 2-0 at the break, the Spaniard inspired his side in the second half with two goals and an assist as they roared back in Rize. Still only 29, it was a timely reminder of Asensio's attacking quality.

Forwards

Miguel Merentiel (Boca Juniors) 9.8

Hopping over to Argentina, where Buenos Aires icons Boca Juniors moved into the quarter-finals of the Clausura playoffs with a first-round 2-0 win against Talleres Cordoba on Sunday.

One man stole the headlines with both the goals, and that was Miguel Merential - incredibly, the third Uruguayan to make our team this week. The 29-year-old now has 13 goals for the season and will be hoping to fire in-form Boca all the way to the Clausura title.

Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) 10

What more can we say about Lionel Messi? The little master has done it again. A goal and three assists in Inter Miami's 4-0 spanking of FC Cincinnati helped fire the dusty pinks into the Eastern Conference final, where they'll face New York City.

In his last five outings for Inter, Messi now has three perfect 10 ratings, which is frankly outrageous. What's more, he's scored or assisted in his last seven MLS matches, and for the season, he now has 35 goals and 25 assists. At 38, he's the genius who just keeps giving, and you wouldn't bet against him taking his Miami side all the way.

Baris Alper Yilmaz (Galatasaray) 9.2

Finally, to the Turkish Super Lig we return, where Baris Alper Yilmaz shone for champions Galatasaray on Saturday with a goal and assist in their 3-2 comeback win over Genclerbirligi at Rams Park.

With star striker Victor Osimhen injured, someone else needed to step up for Gala, and Yilmaz was that man. Along with his goal involvements, he made 10 touches in the opposition box and three successful dribbles, as well as getting stuck into 11 duels.
