Tennis fans will be rejoicing as the Australian Open is here. The best players in the world are in Melbourne to compete for the first Grand Slam of the year and the biggest prize pot the tournament has ever had.
Both the 2025 winners - Madison Keys and Jannik Sinner - are back and looking to retain their titles. The beaten finalists - Alexander Zverev and Aryna Sabalenka - are back too, looking to go one better than they did last time out.
Yet, in the great game of tennis, nothing is certain as there are many other top and unknown players, ready to make a splash down under. In this article, we look at who the top contenders are in the betting odds so that you can see who the favourites are going into the tournament, and can make a savvy bet of your own on the potential winner.
Men’s Betting Odds
The favourite for this year’s title is last year’s winner, Jannik Sinner. The current World No. 2 won two Grand Slams last year (Australian and Wimbledon) and will be hoping to retain his title against his big rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
The Spaniard is the second favourite at bet365, and he will want to win the only Grand Slam that has eluded him so far. He has won two titles in all the other three Slams, yet in Australia, Carlos has not got past the quarterfinals at any attempt, reaching this point for the past two years running.
These two are well above everyone else in the betting odds, with Sinner at $1.66 to win and Alcaraz at $2.50. The next closest to them is arguably the greatest player of all time, Novak Djokovic. The Serbian maestro is 38 now and has not won a Grand Slam since 2023. His powers may be waning, but everyone would know better than to discount the great. He comes in at a juicy $11.
After Djokovic, we have three-time finalist Daniil Medvedev at $15 and last year’s beaten finalist, Alexander Zverev, at $23. Aussie hopeful Alex De Minaur will be hoping the backing of his countrymen can push him to his first Slam, but he is a big outside chance at $51.

Women’s Betting Odds
Whilst the men’s odds have two standouts, the women’s are a lot closer. World No.1, two-time winner and beaten finalist last year, Aryna Sabalenka is coming for the crown she lost. She warmed up in the best possible way, winning the Brisbane International title a week before the start of the Australian Open. She comes in at $2.37.
Sabalenka will be the woman to beat in Australia, but there are a host of names close in the odds who will have a great chance to win the tournament themselves. World No.2 Iga Swiatek will be looking to win the only Grand Slam that has evaded her, having only reached the semifinals at best. Swiatek is at $6.50 at bet365.
Just ahead of her in the odds is Elena Rybakina at $6.00. She has been widely considered as one of the favourites despite having a shaky warm-up in Brisbane, losing in the quarterfinals.
Then, just behind Rybakina is the American duo of Amanda Anisimova and Coco Gauff. Anisimova reached two Grand Slam finals last year, with Gauff winning the French Open. Anisimova is at $8, slightly edging out Gauff at $9.
Last year’s winner and the reigning champion, Madison Keys, is back in Melbourne, ready to embrace the challenge of retaining her title. Whilst winning was the high point of last year for Keys, she was an outsider to win there and is the same again here, being down at $21.
