Moller, ranked 134th in the world, was the underdog against Navone, ranked 60th in the world, and the difference in level was evident throughout the match.
In the decisive moments, Navone was the sharpest player, while there were too many mistakes in Elmer Moller's game at crucial times. The backhand, which is otherwise a great weapon for the Dane, was not as effective as usual.
This is the second successive ATP tournament where Elmer Moller has been eliminated in the second round. The same was the case in Chile at the end of February. Since then, the Dane has lost twice in the first round in a couple of Challenger tournaments.
Moller opened the tournament on the clay in Bucharest on Tuesday with a win against local hope Adrian Boitan, but his opponent in the second round was of a different caliber.
Navone already had the upper hand in the first game of the match with a break of serve. Moller subsequently had the opportunity to break back but missed the opportunity.
Instead, the Argentine broke again and secured the set at the first opportunity.
In the second set, the Dane actually managed to break Navone, but Moller's margin of error increased at the same time in his own serve.
Not once in the set did the Dane manage to hold serve, and symptomatic of how the match developed, it was decided with several successive Danish errors.
