Denmark are on the brink of securing their ticket for the Davis Cup finals in Bologna later in the year after Elmer Moller won his singles match against Jaume Munar 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Holger Rune had put Denmark ahead 1-0 with a win against Pablo Carreno-Busta , and in the second match Elmer Moller produced a surprise by beating Spain's first single, Jaume Munar, who is ranked 37 in the world.

Moller, who is ranked 113 in the world, couldn't get his game going in the first set but gradually recovered to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.

However, there wasn't much to indicate a final Danish win after the first set. Moller did manage to take a 2-0 lead but then Munar took six successive games in a first set that lasted 50 minutes thanks to his very defensive style which Moller struggled to handle.

In the first game of the second set, Moller was down with two break points, and it looked like an early break could potentially be decisive.

But the Dane managed to win the first game of the second set as the match changed character. Moller broke twice in a row and out of the blue took a a 4-0 lead.

In less than half an hour, Moller secured the second set 6-1.

During the third set both players had their share of momentums. Molller broke to 1-0, but Munar equalized immediately and even when Moller secured a break to go up 3-2, the Spaniard had a prompt answer.

But when Moller broke again to make it 5-4, the Dane kept his momentum and threw himself into the gravel in sheer joy as he secured the final victory.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
