Clara Tauson is well on her way to securing the best result of her career at the WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai.
On Thursday afternoon the Danish tennis player reached the semi-finals after a 7-6, 6-4 win over Linda Noskova.
The WTA-1000 tournament in Dubai ranks just below the four grand slam tournaments and the season finale. For Tauson it represents a golden opportunity to take a significant jump up the rankings.
On Wednesday Tauson already caught the eye of the tennis world when she virtually humiliated world No 1, Aryna Sabalenka, with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2 in the quarter-final.
The five best-seeded players have all been eliminated in the tournament, and Tauson will now face the 14th-seeded Karolína Muchova or wild card player Sorana Cirstea in the semifinal.
Tauson is already certain to make a big jump in the rankings, as she began the tournament as no 38 in the world rankings. When the rankings are updated, she will at least make a jump to nr 28, which would be her best ranking ever.
She is also certain to take home around 1.3 million Danisk kroner (approx. 17, 4 million as a minimum)
