Meanwhile, qualifier Elena Gabriela Ruse stunned Polina Kudermetova, 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-2, while 19-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova progressed 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 after a tussle with Clarie Liu.
21:17 CET - Four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka has survived a stern test, battling from a set and a break down to beat Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtesva, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in two hours and a half.
20:29 CET - Romania's Sorana Cirstea has overcome Elisabetta Cocciaretto, 6-3, 7-6(5) in Miami, while Rebecca Sramkova fought from a set down to clinch a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 win over Lucrezia Stefanini.
20:11 CET - Lucia Bronzetti is the next woman through after easing past Spaniard Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, 6-4, 6-3 in a little over an hour and a half.
18:31 CET - Czech star Katerina Sinakova has moved through in Miami, battling past Yue Yuan, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(4). She will face Ons Jabeur next.
18:25 CET - The first few results of the day are in, with Magda Linette claiming a comfortable 7-6(3), 6-2 win over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, while Alycia Parks and Viktoriya Tomova sealed hard-fought victories to move into the second round.
