Griekspoor made his first quarterfinal of the year in Rotterdam after beating Frenchmen Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Quentin Halys without dropping a single set, but was set to face his biggest challenge of the tournament, with second seed Felix Auger Aliassime next on the schedule.
Auger-Aliassime opened the set with mixed success in the service game, allowing Griekspoor to reach break point early on. The Canadian kept Griekspoor at bay, but kept underperforming on his first serve, with his success percentage staying under 50% for the majority of the opening set.
The Dutchman got himself in trouble later in the set when Auger-Aliassime reached both break and set point in the tenth game, but turned the tide in a marathon game. His luck in the tiebreak left him less success, however, with Auger-Aliassime vastly improving his service game and forcing mistakes out of Griekspoor, who dropped the tiebreak 7-2.
Auger-Aliassime, the world no. 6, pulled his fine form through to the second set, which he started with a break on love and a dominant service game to leave Griekspoor fighting for survival in his home tournament.
Following a medical timeout, Auger-Aliassime focused on aiming at Griekspoor's backhand with a second-to-none forehand of his own, resulting in more dominance in his service games as Griekspoor's chances of making it to the semifinals grew increasingly smaller.
A break on 4-2 all but put Auger-Aliassime in the Rotterdam semis, which he officially made with his fourth-straight service game in which he conceded just one point. The 2022 champion ended the hopes and dreams of Dutch success in Rotterdam, eliminating the last-remaining Dutchman after two sets.
