Haase and Verbeek were the last remaining Dutch players in the Netherlands-based tournament after the duo of Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp lost to Tim Puetz and Kevin Krawietz on Monday. Jean-Julien Rojer - the only other Dutchman in the doubles tournament - got eliminated in the first doubles match of the tournament after falling to Germans Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner.
The duo of Haase and Verbeek qualified for the tournament through a wild card thanks to Haase's doubles tournament victory in Rotterdam in 2022.
Cash and Glasspool beat the Dutch duo with a stellar service game after winning a staggering 33 of 36 first service points. Haase and Verbeek were able to survive 6 of 8 possible break points but eventually couldn't hang on.
Dutch pride is at play later on Tuesday again as Botic van de Zandschulp - the second-highest rank Dutch player - will take on a familiar foe in world number three Carlos Alcaraz for the first time since their shocking US Open meeting in August. Van de Zandschulp beat Alcaraz in straight sets in the second round of the Grand Slam in New York: 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.
