Siniakova dealt with Sohyun Park and fourth seed Daria Kasatkina in straight-set wins in the opening two rounds in Seoul, setting up a first-ever meeting with Suzan Lamens in the quarter-finals. The Dutch Lamens eliminated Tatiana Maria and fifth seed Diana Shnaider in the first two rounds without dropping a set.
Siniakova opened furiously with two consecutive breaks as the 77th-ranked Czech star took the set in 36 minutes on her third set point in a third break.
The 29-year-old Siniakova immediately picked up where she left off and took a commanding 4-0 lead in the second set after reaching break point on five occasions early on.
However, Lamens fought her way back into the set with two breaks and four won games in a row. The Dutchwoman vastly improved on her serve, going from a first and second service percentages of 38% and 36% in the first set to 50% first service and 43% second service percentages in the second.
However, with the score at 6-5 in favour of Siniakova, the 13-year veteran quickly earned herself two break and match points before cashing in on her third, punching a ticket to the semi-finals with a 7-5 set win.
The 64th-ranked Lamens failed to reach a first WTA semi-final since April, when she reached the last four at the indoor tournament in Rouen. Siniakova, meanwhile, will face the second-seeded Ekaterina Alexandora in the semi-finals.
