As we approach the first full weekend of the 2025 US Open, the third round begins on a fascinating Friday at Flushing Meadows.

07:19 CET - Fourth seed and home favourite Taylor Fritz is safely through to the fourth round after battling past Jerome Kym 7-6(3), 6-7(9), 6-4, 6-4 in a hard-fought four-set contest.

05:55 CET - Taylor Townsend stuns Mirra Andreeva in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. This is Townsend's first top 10 win since 2023 as she now advances to the Round of 16 at the US Open for just the second time in her career.

04:15 CET - Novak Djokovic earns his 395th Grand Slam win after taking down Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3. He now holds the record for most hard-court Grand Slam wins with 192.

03:30 CET - After a quick 28-minute third set, Tomas Machac advances after defeating Ugo Blanchet 7-5, 6-3, 6-1. This is now Machac's second time ever advancing to the Round of 16 at the US Open.

02:50 CET - The world's No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka advances after beating Leylah Fernandez in straight sets 6-3, 7-6.

02:45 CET - Two-time Grand Slam champion Barbora Krejcikova completes the comeback to upset 10th seed Emma Navarro 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 after being down 0-3 in the decider. This marks her first US Open Round of 16 since 2021.

01:10 CET - Ann Li reaches her first-ever Grand Slam Singles Round 4 after defeating Priscilla Hon in straight sets 7-5, 6-3. She'll be taking on the 4th seed Jessica Pegula in the next round.

23:42 CET - Another big name has been dumped out, and this time it is home favourite Frances Tiafoe! The American was outplayed by an amazing performance from big-serving Jan-Lennard Struff, losing 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(7) in two hours and 11 minutes. Struff is into the US Open fourth round for the first time.

23:03 CET - Spaniard Cristina Bucsa has just claimed a stunning win in New York, battling from a set and a break down against 19th seed Elise Mertens to reign victorious 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 and reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the very first time.

22:49 CET - Heartbreaking scenes at the US Open, as the in-form home favourite Ben Shelton has been forced to retire from his third-round encounter with Adrian Mannarino with the match at two sets all, after he picked up a really painful shoulder injury.

Shelton looked devastated and had tears in his eyes as he headed off the court. His absence is a huge blow to the tournament.

21:38 CET - Last year's runner-up Jessica Pegula survived some nervy moments in the second set to seal a relatively comfortable 6-1, 7-5 over two-time Slam champion Victoria Azarenka. The American is finding some of her best tennis at the perfect time as she enters the second week at the US Open.

21:08 CET - Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova continues to prove what a tricky and unpredictable opponent she can be, claiming an excellent 7-6(4), 6-1 win over seventh seed Jasmine Paolini to book her spot in the fourth round.

While on paper this is an upset, it is no surprise that Vondrousova was able to come out on top in this contest.

19:55 CET - Arthur Rinderknech is into the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the very first time, fighting from a set down to claim a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 win over Daniil Medvedev's conqueror, Benjamin Bonzi.

19:27 CET - Despite a small injury scare in the second set, world number two Carlos Alcaraz breezed through to the fourth round at Flushing Meadows, swatting aside Luciano Darderi 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.

He continues his quest for a sixth Grand Slam title, a second at the US Open, and the world number one ranking.

19:23 CET - Jiri Lehecka has continued his really good form at this year's US Open, easing to a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Belgian Raphael Collignon to move into the second week.

18:12 CET - Well, that was a demolition job. In the battle of Grand Slam champions, Elena Rybakina utterly dismantled Emma Raducanu, crushing her British opponent 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour to move into the fourth round.

The Kazakh can certainly go on and win this tournament if she plays like that, while it is a bit of a setback for Raducanu.
