The third matchday of this season's UEFA Conference League once again lived up to the billing, with some top football across the continent. Here is one stat from each of the matches that occurred last week Thursday.

Mainz strike late while Samsunspor keep up their incredible start

31 - Nothing could separate Sparta Praha and Rakow Czestochowa, with the sides playing to a goalless draw in Czechia. The hosts carried proceedings, but could not convert any of their 11 chances. Rakow, who are still relatively new to the continental scene, ended a streak of 31 European games without a goalless draw. Ironically, their first three games all ended without a goal.

11 - Goals from Artem Bondarenko and Kaua Elias gave Shakhtar Donetsk a 2-0 victory over Breidablik. The Pitmen claimed their second win of the league phase after losing two weeks prior. Meanwhile, it was more misery for Iceland's Breidablik. It was the 11th time in a European away game that they failed to score, losing all but one of those ties.

16 - Samsunspor's European debut could not have been better. Just as they did in their opening two matches in the Conference League, the Turkish club won. This time, it was Hamrun Spartans who were the victims, falling 3-0. The hosts had 16 attempts in their latest win, the most they have had in a UECL clash thus far.

2 - Czech Cup winners Sigma Olomouc got off the mark in this season's competition following a 2-1 defeat of Noah on the road. The goals came in the space of 15 minutes in the first half, where Abdoulaye Sylla scored what proved to be the winner 24 minutes in. Noah have lost a home tie in the UECL proper for the second time after APOEL beat them last fall.

8 - Lee Jae-Sung played hero for Mainz, as his 95th minute winner helped the Bundesliga outfit to a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Fiorentina. A largely even match saw the Germans prevail for the third time in as many games in the league phase. Mainz's unbeaten run in European home ties is now at eight, having won each of their last four outings (5-3-0).

12 - KuPS Kuopio claimed their maiden success in the main rounds of a UEFA club competition following a 3-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava. The Finnish club, who recently defended their Veikkausliiga title, overcame an early deficit to earn a massive three points. Slovan's misery continues in group phase play, as they have now lost their last 12 at this stage.

5 - Celje's remarkable story in the Conference League continues as they pull off another scalp. This time, Legia Warsaw fell to the Slovenian side 2-1. The hosts had to turn things around, needing just five minutes in the latter stages of the second half to do so. It is now five successive European wins for Celje, which is a best for the club. Five is also their goal difference after three games, all of whch they have won.

6 - After two massive scalps to open their UECL campaign, AEK Larnaca were held at home against Aberdeen. A 0-0 draw in Cyprus was not too damaging for the hosts, but they were certainly brought back down to earth. The Dons are no longer bottom of the league phasem which is a positive. However, for the first time in six years, they have been kept out in consecutive European games.

69 - A pair of penalties ulitmately cancelled each other out in the Greek capital, as AEK Athens rescued a point against Shamrock Rovers in a 1-1 stalemate. Luka Jovic's spot kick just before the end of normal time undid Graham Burke's success in the first half. Excluding first half stoppage time, those two penalty kicks came 69 minutes apart.

Crystal Palace bounce back as Dynamo Kyiv score six

3 - At the third time of asking, CS Universitatea Craiova were victorious. The Romanians earned a 1-0 success in Austria versus Rapid Wien. The lone goal came eight minutes before the half as the guests jumped into the top 24 with the result. CSU Craiova remain unbeaten versus teams from Austria through three matches (2-1-0).

4 - Shkendija were incredibly close to securing back-to-back wins in their maiden league phase appearance. Jagiellonia Bialystok had other plans, finding the back of the net in stoppage time to pick up a 1-1 draw despite being down to 10 men. The North Macedonian champions have drawn a continental home clash for the fourth time in their history.

0 - Kosovo's Drita made the most of their man advantage at Shelbourne. Playing a man light from the 16th minute on, the Irish club fell 1-0 in front of their fans. Despite creating chances, the Shels could not find a way past their guests. It leaves them without a win from the first half of the league phase. Moreover, Shelbourne have not scored across those matches, making it the first time they have gone three European matches in a row without scoring.

28 - A remarkable match in Madrid saw Rayo Vallecano rally from two goals down to top Lech Poznan 3-2. Alvaro Garcia's 94th minute winner completed the comeback, with the Spaniards scoring at the death for the second match in a row. That result saw Lech lose to a Spanish team for the 28th time, more than any other country.

10 - Lincoln Red Imps and Rijeka could not follow up their matchday 2 victories with another one in their clash. Instead, the champions of Gibraltar and Croatia respectively had to settle for a 1-1 draw in their game. The hosts also failed to convert a penalty, midway through the second half. Rijeka had 10 shots in the match, which was less than their opponent's 12.

14 - Lausanne-Sport and Omonia Nicosia also had to make do with one point as their game ended 1-1 in Switzerland. Just six minutes separated Angelos Neofytou's opener and Theo Bair's response. Although the hosts had triple the shots to their Cypriot guests, they could not make the most of it. Omonoia have yet to win an away match in a group phase, in 14 attempts.

7 - Strasbourg's return to Europe could not have gone any better so far. The French outfit prevailed 2-1 on their travels versus BK Hacken. Martial Godo's strike at the hour mark proved to be the deciding factor. Although the Swedes got their goal a minute later, they could not get a second. Strasbourg have won all three road matches this term, scoring seven times in the process.

29 - It was an evening to forget for Zrinjski Mostar as they were handed a 6-0 beating by Dynamo Kyiv. Six different players found the back of the net for the Ukrainian champions, who finally end their lengthy winless run in group action. It was the 29th time the Bosnians could not score in a UEFA club competition game, and the fifth time this term.

65 - Crystal Palace recovered from their stunning defeat from the previous matchday, topping AZ Alkmaar 3-1 at home. Ismaila Sarr's double spearheaded the Eagles to put them back on track. AZ will be left quite disappointed with the result. The Dutch regulars had 65% of the possession, but failed to finish their chances in the loss.
