Alpine skiing: Women's giant slalom

First run 10:00 CET / Second run 13:30 CET - Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre (Cortina d’Ampezzo)

With four wins and two other podiums in her breakout season, Austria's 27-year-old Julia Scheib is on paper the heavy favourite for the giant slalom title as she leads the World Cup standings ahead of Switzerland’s Camille Rast (three podiums, including one win).

Mikaela Shiffrin didn't get her Winter Games campaign started in the way she wanted, finishing off the podium in the women’s team combined event, and she will look to bounce back in her favourite discipline.

After her sensational super-G victory, reigning world champion Federica Brignone will certainly also be a serious medal contender despite the fact that she has raced only once this season following her comeback from injury.

Sweden's Sara Hector shocked many by taking giant slalom gold in Beijing and will be looking for more silverware in Italy.

The list of medal challengers at the Tofane Skiing Centre also includes the USA's Paula Moltzan, who finished runner-up on two occasions, as well as world silver medallist Alice Robinson of New Zealand.

Ice hockey: Switzerland vs Czech Republic (men's)

12:10 CET - Milano Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena (Milan)

The Czech Republic and Switzerland will face off in a repeat of the 2024 World Championship final that will likely decide second place in Group A.

Both teams will head into the match licking their wounds after each conceding five goals against Canada and will be keen to restore morale with progression to the playoff stages of the tournament still within reach.

Switzerland's loss to Canada was their sixth defeat in the last seven games, and extending this slump before the play-offs would be far from ideal.

Scoring six goals against France ended a two-game goalless streak for the Czechs, and Radim Rulík's squad remains in contention for a direct quarter-final spot, though they would need a big win.

Czechia has won seven of the last eight meetings with Switzerland. This run began with a victory in the World Championship final in Prague (2-0), which was also one of four occasions when they kept a clean sheet in these match-ups.

Three of the last four games between Switzerland and the Czech Republic have seen eight goals scored.

Biathlon: Men's 12.5 km pursuit

11:15 CET - Antholz-Anterselva Biathlon Arena (Rasen-Antholz)

Based on the 2025/26 World Cup season, Eric Perrot (FRA) and Tommaso Giacomel (ITA) are the top favourites for the men's 12.5 km pursuit, with Perrot leading the overall World Cup standings and Giacomel showing great form in time for the Winter Olympics.

Perrot will head into the race with plenty of confidence as he topped the podium in the Hochfilzen pursuit, showing excellent speed and shooting.

A consistent front-runner, Tommaso Giacomel is considered one of the fastest on the track and a major threat, consistently ranking near the top in the overall and pursuit standings.

Sturla Holm Laegreid, who caught world fame when he admitted that he had cheated on his girlfriend on live TV is also likely to play a prominent role in the final as will his two Norwegian teammates Johannes Dale-Skjevdal and Johan-Olav Botn, while Quentin Fillon Maillet, the 2022 Olympic champion, is a regular contender for podiums, especially in the 12.5km pursuit and mass start.
