Alpine skiing: Women's super-G final

11:30 CET - Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre (Cortina d’Ampezzo)

The women's super-G race promises to be one of the most entertaining and open of the entire Games. The host nation will put its faith in Sofia Goggia, who leads the World Cup with a 280 points total.

Last year’s World Cup bronze medallist has plenty of experience from the Winter Olympics. In the downhill, she completed her Olympic collection, adding a home bronze to the gold and silver from 2018 and 2022, respectively.

2018 Olympic champion Ester Ledecka and Breezy Johnson, who triumphed in the downhill, are in great shape coming into the competition as well.

Also in the hunt for a medal, you will find Emma Aicher (GER), who will be looking to collect her third medal of these Games, while Romane Miradoli (FRA) and Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (GER) are both part of the chasing pack.

The 46-year-old Mexican Sarah Schleper is set to make history as she competes in her seventh Winter Olympics as the oldest female alpine skier ever to compete at the Games. She will also be the first woman to compete at three or more Winter Olympics for two different nations, as she represented the USA from 1998 to 2010.

Ice hockey: Czech Republic vs Canada (men's)

16:40 CET - Santa Giulia Ice Hockey Arena (Milan)

The second day of the men's Olympic ice hockey tournament will throw up a blockbuster clash when heavyweights Canada open their campaign with a round-robin match against the Czech Republic on Thursday afternoon.

With the majority of their biggest NHL stars present, the Canadians are heavy favourites to win the Group A match, and they are on a quest to secure their first men's ice hockey gold medal since Sochi 2014, the last time the Games included NHL players.

Only two players within the Canadian squad have experience from previous Winter Olympics, with legend and captain Sidney Crosby, who scored the overtime winner against the USA in the Vancouver 2010 final, representing one of them. For Canada, NHL star Connor McDavid is set to make his Olympic debut.

The Czechs, who won gold at their home World Championships in Prague in 2024, will no doubt look to NHL star David Pastrnak to provide the magic on the ice, especially as his Boston Bruins teammate, Pavel Zacha, has been ruled out of the tournament through injury.

The Czechs have not won an Olympic medal since they claimed the bronze at Turin 2006, while they famously won the tournament at Nagano 1998.

Snowboard: Women's halfpipe final

19:30 CET - Livigno Snow Park

American Chloe Kim has her eyes set on becoming the first woman to win three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the halfpipe. The 25-year-old American did not take part in any competitions for two years after winning gold in Beijing, but has never looked better since her return to the sport.

There was doubt about her participation after dislocating her shoulder in early January, but she says herself that she "is good to go."

Kim also showed no signs of discomfort as she posted a sublime 90.25 on her first run, qualifying in first place for the final. The 25-year-old claimed top spot ahead of Japan's Shimizu Sara (87.50) and USA teammate Maddie Mastro (86.00). Judo Rise (84.75) of Japan qualified in fourth place, while the 17-year-old rising star Choi Gaon from South Korea (82.25) ended qualification in sixth.

PyeongChang silver medallist Liu Jiayu will not take part in the final after she took a scary fall in the qualification round on Wednesday and was carried off on a stretcher after landing hard on her left arm and shoulder, and also slamming her face and stomach to the ground.
