Tony Munyonga hit an unbeaten 43 runs to steer Zimbabwe to a three-wicket victory, with four balls remaining, over Ireland in the second of their Twenty20 internationals at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.

The first game on Saturday was abandoned because of rain and while grey skies threatened Sunday’s clash, Zimbabwe came through to take a 1-0 lead with one more match to come on Tuesday.

Ireland were put into bat by their hosts and scored 137-8 off their 20 overs, with Lorcan Tucker top scoring with 46 while Trevor Gwandu took 3-24 in his four overs.

Zimbabwe were in trouble as Craig Young (4-24) took out their top order cheaply but recovered from 64-5 at the halfway mark of their innings to go on and score 141-7 off 19.2 overs as Munyonga’s 43 runs off 30 deliveries proved a match-winning knock.
